Description
Fundamental to all agriculture and human existence is the ability to access clean water. Permaculture Canada offers a water analysis and reporting program that allows a property owner to evaluate their existing water quality and to outline options for improving water quality if it doesn’t meet suitable standards.
Water Analysis and Reporting Program
The water analysis and reporting program is managed by our Chief Operations Officer and permaculture designer, Graham Towerton. As a chemical engineer, Graham spent a large part of his career performing environmental water quality analysis for water treatment facilities and providing chemical and equipment treatment recommendations for municipal and industrial water treatment systems.
The sampling and testing program is coordinated through a third-party national testing laboratory that is certified to US EPA water quality testing standards and with the capability to receive samples from Canada and the US. Testing can include basic analysis of pH, mineral content and salts; all the way through to comprehensive analysis which includes pesticides and microbiological contamination. Once the sampling and testing is completed, a detailed report will provide interpretation of the results and will compare the water quality to relevant potable water standards. Recommendations for treatment to improve water quality will be provided, including details of further options for design and sourcing of water treatment equipment.
