The 2025 ACRES USA Eco-Ag Conference and Trade Show dates have been set for December 1-4 in Madison, WI. You can register to attend here. Many of the most respected regenerative agriculture farmers and consultants will be attending as speakers. The 2024 conference was a major learning experience for us at Permaculture Canada and we met some incredible legends including Gary Zimmer, Matt Powers and Joel Salatin to name just a few!

We've developed a great new relationship with Erica Mock of Go Slow and Steady who provides homesteaders with consulting. Erica referred us to do the design work on a 3-acre property in Southern California.

Lindsay's design took an already beautiful property and added an incredible array of tropical and subtropical fruit trees, medicinal and herbal gardens, new water features and chickens - making use of a 1-acre horse paddock and adding more trees into the existing orchards.

Designers Course - Coming Soon!

Lindsay has started the development of an online Advanced Permaculture Designer's Course set to launch in the fall, which provides training beyond the Permaculture Design Certificate that designers typically obtain. With a heavy emphasis on computer design skills, this will help you create your own software design capabilities as a permaculture consultant. In the first week of every month we're always looking forward to join Cormac Harkin for the Permaculture Vine Podcast for a live event usually with a special guest joining us. Our July 3rd event was extra special as Cormac hosted us for his 100th edition of his podcast. It's been an amazing journey of patience and perseverance for Cormac and his podcast with multiple editions featuring Graham Towerton and the ongoing series with Permaculture Canada with Lindsay and Graham. In fall 2024, Lindsay toured the "Wild About Flowers" nursery near Okotoks, Alberta with owner Arden Nering. Watch the 30 minute video tour to see an amazing array of native plants being grown for use in the Alberta landscape.

The Great Lakes Gathering July 11-13 was unfortunately postponed which included Graham as a speaker on the economics of permaculture marketing gardening. Watch this space for future announcements for the rescheduling.

For Nov 7-8, Graham has been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Rooted and Resilient Homestead Conference hosted by Purdue University's Noble County Extension Service. We'll provide updates and registration details in future newsletters. Graham will host an exhibitor booth and will also hold an additional lesson on the growing of fruit trees in the US Midwest. Registration opens September 10th.

In this edition we are featuring MicroBIOMETER, our partner for the supply of field test equipment for quantitative assessment of microbial biomass and fungal populations in soil. The test kit is easy to use and each test takes about 20 minutes to provide a simple output to your phone or tablet. With the results we're able to make good recommendations on soil amendments that can improve soil microbiology.
